Construction growth shows Economic Recovery

A positive outlook in construction has been revealed recently by the Associated Builders and Contractors. The Construction Backlog Indicator is for the first time in 2010 has shown an increase of 4.5% this quarter to 6.07 months. This is up from the same time in 2009 which was only at 5.8 months.
What these numbers represent is that new construction is actually picking back up. One of the largest sectors hurt from the economic recession was specifically work in construction. Many people found them selves with out a job and has been a sore point for the nation in fixing unemployment.
The Northeast states have seen the biggest gains. While the Middle and southern states have seen gains but not much over last year. The Western states are almost at a flat comp from 2009.
All in all these numbers are positive and show momentum in our recovery.
