My name is Justin Botner; a local Realtor in the valley.  With the new year year upon us and being a decade into the millennium we have a lot of current issues we are dealing with.  Let’s take a moment to look back 10 years ago with a great article from the Arizona Republic and see the Top Ten News Stories of 2000.

1. 537 votes decide race, divide U.S.

America was divided after eight years of President Bill Clinton. But it was not until the vote tallies started rolling in on the night of Nov. 7, 2000, that the nation's narrow split came sharply into color.

The cliffhanger election of Texas Gov. George W. Bush over Vice President Al Gore in the presidential race added the terms "red state" and "blue state" to the lexicon and set the stage for a decade of…

Since the dramatic price drops in the housing market many New Home Buyers and Investors have been diving in head first with the hope of a great investment in their future.

If you are fall into one of these two categories or might find yourself there soon, here are some great tips to make the most out of your investment!

Upscale Projects

  • Siding Replacement (fiber-cement or foam-backed vinyl). With the economic slump, home buyers aren't being dazzled by bells and whistles as much as they are improvements that will ensure lower repair and utility bills. Although replacing current siding with fiber-cement has lost value from 2007, it still nets an astonishing 87% ROI. If you prefer a foam-backed vinyl…

Phoenix to add 300 Acres to the Sonoran Preserve

Monday, December 14th, 2009 at 11:56am. 53 Views, 0 Comments.

The City of Phoenix will likely be the only bidder on a new area of the Sonoran Desert up for sale. This acquistion will bring the total preserve up to 5,484 acres. The city already has purchased most of the range to the Northwest. The price is $9.6 million, half the money is funded by the Phoenix Parks and Preserves Initiative tax fund, with the rest from an Arizona Growing Smarter grant.  OAS_AD('ArticleFlex_1')

Ultimately, the City of Phoenix hopes to build a preserve of 22,000 acres including not only mountains but also washes and connecting corridors. It includes acreage west of Interstate 17 along the northern side of the Central Arizona Project Canal.

ASU is revitalizing business in Phoenix.

Since the opening in 2006; the Phoenix Campus has brought students and business to the surrounding area.  The city sees a “youthful” new dynamic being brought back to the downtown area; spurring new and different business to open.

But is just having a campus enough?

Unfortunately most students who attended the Phoenix campus migrate to the Tempe campus their next semester.  This is because Phoenix’s recreation and entertainment activities don’t compare to what Tempe offers students. This is a wake up call to Phoenix.  The city has projects in the works to keep the youth staying downtown such as CityScape.

Phoenix’s economy will become…
